- The two-seater, V8-powered hybrid hypercar claimed a new lap record at Laguna Seca.
- Czinger also broke lap records at Thunderhill, Sonoma Raceway, and The Thermal Club.
- As part of the record blitz, the 21C completed a 1,000-mile road trip across California.
Czinger burst onto the automotive scene several years ago, and on first impressions, it seemed as though its 21C might end up as nothing more than vaporware. However, the Los Angeles-based company has proven the doubters wrong, building customer cars and outgunning European rivals at some of America’s finest racetracks. The 21C has now set five new production car lap records. Cue the ‘USA! USA! USA!’ chants.

The Specs
The 3D-printed hypercar is powered by a 1,350-hp hybrid drivetrain that combines a 2.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with two 150-hp front motors and a 150-hp rear motor. Most of the power, 1,050 hp, is sent to the rear wheels, and the car weighs in at under 2,900 pounds (1,315 kg). According to the Los Angeles company, it can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in an extraordinary 1.9 seconds.

Rather than trucking out the 21C to a race circuit, setting a lap time, and then transporting it back to the headquarters, Czinger set about doing something a little different. It decided to take a single 21C on a 1,000-mile road trip across California and visit five of the state’s finest circuits to smash their lap records over five consecutive days.
Laguna Seca and beyond
First up was WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. The 21C already held the production car lap record at this circuit, topping the Koenigsegg Jesko Attack with a time of 1:24.75 last year. At its latest attempt, it cut that time down to 1:24.39.
The Czinger 21C then thundered to a new lap record at Thunderhill Raceway Park, setting a best time of 1:48.30. This is 3.39 seconds quicker than the previous best lap time. The 21C also set a new record at Sonoma Raceway with a best lap time of 1:35.05, which works out to be 0.70 seconds quicker than the old record.
Czinger then wrapped things up with a new record at Willow Springs Raceway of 1:19.73, defeating a Porsche 911 GT2 RS by 1.35 seconds. It also smashed the record at The Thermal Club with a time of 2:03.17 for the full circuit, or 10.33 seconds better than the old record. Racelogic verified all of these numbers, and they will be featured in a new documentary the firm will release next Monday.

Pushing the limits
“We’re proud to return to The Quail and reflect on how far we’ve come,” Czinger chief executive and founder Lukas Czinger said. “Year after year, we’ve pushed the boundaries of what’s possible, advancing our technology, honing our performance, and proving that Czinger is setting new benchmarks for the industry. This campaign was a culmination of that commitment. In just five days, the 21C claimed five track records and covered over 1,000 miles on public roads, in our home state of California.”
