A Renault Ad Aired During A Texas Rangers Game With A Car You Can’t Even Buy In America

  • A Renault Koleos ad was shown during a Texas Rangers game on Tuesday.
  • The apparently mis-aired spot promoted a crossover that’s not sold in America.
  • It’s unclear how the ad made it to air, but it was taken from Australia.

Baseball might be as American as apple pie, but Tuesday’s Texas Rangers game took an unexpectedly French turn. During the fifth inning, a commercial for the Renault Koleos was shown on the MLB.TV stream of the Rangers Sports Network.

var adpushup = window.adpushup = window.adpushup || {que:[]};
adpushup.que.push(function() {
if (adpushup.config.platform !== “DESKTOP”){
adpushup.triggerAd(“0f7e3106-c4d6-4db4-8135-c508879a76f8”);
} else {
adpushup.triggerAd(“82503191-e1d1-435a-874f-9c78a2a54a2f”);
}
});

While automotive advertising goes hand-in-hand with sports, the seemingly mis-aired spot made me do a double-take. It came after a Swiffer commercial and likely didn’t raise any eyebrows, as it was taken from Australia.

As a result, the commercial was in English and promoted the crossover as being priced from $36,990. While the Australian accent was hard to miss, it appears these two items were enough to let the ad make it to air. It’s not entirely clear how this happened, but it’s possible that some network or advertising person didn’t realize Renault left the United States in 1987.

Thanks to the apparent slip-up, Rangers fans were treated to a commercial promoting the 2025 Koleos Evolution 4×2. The company touted offers of $0 down and rates as low as 1.99%. Renault Australia also noted the crossover’s seven-year, “unlimited kilometre” warranty.

It’s an interesting mix-up and one you don’t see every day. However, games have plenty of automotive ads and tie-ins, so it’s easy to see how something like this could be missed.

In the case of the Rangers, games typically feature Audi, Chevrolet, Ford, Kia, Toyota, and Honda. For someone unfamiliar with cars, a Renault Koleos ad might not seem out of place.

var adpushup = window.adpushup = window.adpushup || {que:[]};
adpushup.que.push(function() {

}
});
