an Aito M7 without Huawei features at half the price

Seres officially announced the launch of its updated mid-size SUV, the new Landian E5 Plus (the third generation), today. Available in two configurations, both models are priced at 119,800 yuan (16,800 USD). This annual facelift primarily focuses on configuration upgrades and a notable increase in its pure electric driving range to 230 km.

As an annual model refresh, the Landian E5 Plus receives several key enhancements. The exterior boasts a modern “star-ring” through-type light strip at the front, complemented by a closed grille. The side profile is refined with dense-spoke wheels, traditional door handles, and chrome trim around the windows. The rear mirrors the front’s design with a popular through-type taillight cluster. The facelift introduces a new “Jinghai Sand” exterior colour and “Moon Rhythm Wheel” designs. An integrated outdoor camping kit is also offered.

Inside, the E5 Plus presents a flat dashboard design with chrome accents. The cabin is equipped with a full LCD instrument cluster, a prominent 15.6-inch floating central control screen, a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, an electric sunroof, automatic LED headlights, and an electronic column shifter. A major highlight is the integration of the Doubao cockpit’s large AI model and enhanced chip computing power, promising more intelligent and convenient human-car interaction.

Under the hood, the new Landian E5 Plus is powered by the Seres Super Electric Hybrid System. It combines a 1.5L engine, producing a maximum power of 70 kW, with an electric motor delivering 160 kW (215 hp). Aa addition is the new intelligent electric hybrid all-time four-wheel drive system. The pure electric driving range has been extended to 230 km. The vehicle features an FSD adaptive suspension system, which automatically adjusts suspension stiffness for optimal ride comfort and handling.

Editor’s comment

Seres is a primary collaborator with Huawei. Its Aito models are the top sellers within the HIMA and also drive the majority of Seres’ new energy vehicle (NEV) sales. In November 2025, Seres sold a total of 55,203 NEVs, with Aito models alone contributing 51,677 units. This demonstrates Huawei’s significant role in Seres’ achievements.

Despite Landian models being priced at only half that of comparable Aito vehicles, their sales performance appears to be underwhelming.
