- Amazon is getting into the used car business thanks to the assistance of Hyundai dealers.
- Dealers in Los Angeles can now list used and certified pre-owned vehicles on Amazon Autos.
- The program will expand in the coming months and cars come with a 3-day return window.
Amazon Autos is expanding as the online retailer has announced the service will now include used and certified pre-owned vehicles. As part of the effort, participating Hyundai dealers in Los Angeles can now list their used vehicle inventory online, including cars from other manufactures. The program will then expand to “additional cities across the country in the coming months.”

While buying a used car online isn’t the smartest idea, vehicles will come with a 3-day/300-mile return policy as well as a minimum 30 day/1,000-mile limited warranty. This should help to alleviate some concerns, but buyers should still do their homework.

Speaking of which, Amazon noted “comprehensive vehicle information including vehicle history reports [will] available for all listings.” The company also promised transparent pricing with no hidden fees. Customers can also expect “seamless integration with participating dealerships for test drives.”
To check out dealership inventory, shoppers can visit the Amazon Autos website. There, they’ll be able to filter between new and used cars, although they have to be within a 75-mile radius of the dealership.

Amazon Autos’ leader said, “This expansion is driven by strong interest from our dealer partners. By including certified pre-owned and used vehicles, we’re meeting dealer demand for broader online reach while offering customers a wider selection of high-quality vehicles to fit your budget and unique lifestyle needs.” Fan Jin added, “This move continues our commitment to support local dealerships, now connecting dealers with more prospective customers online across new, certified pre-owned, and used vehicle categories.”
Amazon launched sales of new cars in December of 2024 and the company currently has participating dealers in more than 130 cities across the country. Amazon says it’s a win-win as they provide dealers with access to millions of Amazon customers, while shoppers can expect a streamlined browsing experience as well as a purchasing process that starts online.
