MG-bound updated IM LS6 revealed interior ahead of launch

The MG-bound updated IM LS6 new energy crossover from SAIC and Alibaba revealed the interior in China. It has two large screens in the center console and an optional steering yoke. The IM LS6 will be available as EREV with a 66 kWh battery for 450 km of electric range. Previously, IM-branded cars were launched in the UK under the MG brand.

IM Motors was launched in 2020 as a joint venture between SAIC and Alibaba. It currently sells four BEV models domestically: the L6 & the L7 sedans, and the LS6 & the LS7 crossovers. However, IM Motors suffers from slow sales. According to China EV DataTracker, this brand delivered 25,201 vehicles in the first half of 2025. IM Motors wants to reverse this trend by launching the updated LS6 crossover with an EREV powertrain variant. Its predecessor will start deliveries in the UK in September this year.

Updated IM LS6 interior

The updated IM LS6’s interior adopts the all-new design language. The car’s center console has a large 5K floating screen in front of the driver. The left part of this monitor acts as an instrument panel, while the right part is a touchscreen. The front passenger of the IM LS6 got an even bigger display with a lower resolution of 3K.

The IM LS6 adopts an optional steering yoke that doesn’t interfere with the view on the large screen. There is a small gear shifter mounted on the steering column. The center tunnel of the updated IM LS6 offers a wireless phone charging pad, a couple of cup holders, and a spacious compartment. The center console offers a row of physical controls. The door cards of the updated SUV feature buttons instead of handles, ambient lighting, and power seat adjustment controls.

The IM LS6’s second row of seats adopts a refrigerator that can also warm up food and drinks. Other features of the car’s interior include a panoramic sunroof and an advanced acoustic system. According to IM Motors representatives, the updated LS6 SUV has the highest space utilization rate of 90%.

More about updated IM LS6

The updated IM LS6 applied for a sales license in China in May 2025, revealing core specs. This model offers a redesigned front end with fin-shaped headlights and a front bumper with a larger air intake. The dimensions of the IM LS6 are 4937/1988/1671 mm with a wheelbase of 2960 mm. It is 27 mm longer than the old model.

The all-electric variant of the updated IM LS6 offers three powertrain options with a peak power lying in a 245 – 500 kW (329 – 670 hp) range. This vehicle is available with the range extender as well. The IM LS6 EREV adopts a 1.5-liter 15FNE petrol-powered turbocharged engine for 114 kW (153 hp). It has a single electric motor in the rear axle for 230 kW (308 hp). A large 66 kWh battery powers this e-motor, providing up to 450 km of electric range. The mixed range of the model reaches 1,500 km.

The ongoing IM LS6 model entered the UK market this year, named the MG IM6. Its starting price is 47,995 GBP (64,090 USD). The market entry under the MG umbrella isn’t surprising because the Chinese automotive giant SAIC owns both MG and IM Motors. There is a possibility that the updated LS6 will enter the UK in the future. It is worth mentioning that the current IM LS6 is twice as cheap in China as it is in the UK. It starts at 209,900 yuan (29,220 USD).
