Earlier this week, a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody Jailbreak Last Call, a name almost as long as the car itself, sold for just $88,000. That was nearly $10,000 under its original sticker price, assuming the first buyer avoided any dealer markups, and the car had covered only 34 miles (55 km). Now another Jailbreak Last Call has changed owners, this one a 2023 model with 646 miles (1,039 km), and its value has also taken a sharp hit since leaving the factory.

Many Dodge shoppers likely hoped that the Last Call versions of the Challenger would morph into hugely desirable collector cars. However, this turn out to be the case. Perhaps because too many were built, or maybe because they were too expensive to begin with, the market is now heavily favoring those shopping for a low-mileage, used example, rather than those who bought one new.
Changing Fortunes
The most recent case played out on Bring a Trailer. Finished in Pitch Black and sitting on its factory 20-inch forged aluminum wheels wrapped in 305/35 Pirelli P Zero All Season rubber, the car had all the right ingredients to appeal to enthusiasts.

According to the seller’s window sticker, they purchased it in February 2024 for $90,952. For most of the past year, the car has been stored in a climate-controlled garage. It had no mods apart from tinted windows, with the windshield left untouched. Despite its immaculate condition, the auction closed at $73,000.

The cabin looks just as good now as it would have when the car was first built. The heated and ventilated front seats are trimmed in Black Laguna leather and key features include a suede headliner, Jailbreak badging, and a leather wrapped steering wheel.
Packing a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 with 717 hp, the Hellcat Jailbreak is a serious performer, and sends all of its power to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Given what these cars commanded not long ago, $73,000 feels like a bit of a bargain, though there’s still a strong chance values could slide further as word spreads to owners keeping theirs in storage, many of whom may decide to sell once they realize the market is softening. And the more that come up for sale at once, the harder prices are likely to fall.
