Ferrari’s First EV Will Have Around 1,000 HP And A Unique Sound

Ferrari has shared the preliminary specifications of its first-ever fully electric model, dubbed the Elettrica, that will enter production in 2026. The zero-emission model will have a combined output that exceeds 986 hp (735 kW / 1,000 PS), an amplified electric sound and a high-density battery promising to deliver over 530 km (329 miles) of range.

According to Maranello, all of the main components of the EV have been developed and manufactured in-house, ensuring it delivers “peerless levels of performance”.

The powertrain will comprise two electric axles producing 282 hp (210 kW / 286 PS) at the front and 831 hp (620 kW / 843 PS) at the rear. The driver will have access to three modes, named Range, Tour and Performance. According to the official specs, the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint will be completed in 2.5 seconds and top speed will stand at 310 km/h (193 mph).

The battery pack has a capacity of 122 kWh and an energy density of 195 Wh/kg, which is the highest among all current production EVs. It is equipped with a sophisticated cooling system and supports ultra-fast DC charging of up to 350 kW. The Italian automaker is confident that the range will exceed 530 km (329 miles).

Ferrari has yet to unveil the bodystyle of its first EV but said it took inspiration from mid/rear-engine berlinettas for its architecture with an “extremely short wheelbase”. The body and chassis will be made of 75% recycled aluminum, with an “extremely short wheelbase” of 2,960 mm (116.5 inches) and a driving position near the front wheels. Furthermore, the active suspension promises GT-levels comfort and optimum body control.

Another cool feature of the Elettrica will be its sound. Instead of adding fake noises inspired by ICE-powered models, Ferrari chose a different approach. A dedicated sensor picks up the mechanical vibrations of the electric powertrain which are then amplified for a unique auditory feedback.

The world premiere of the Italian EV is scheduled for spring 2026. However, Ferrari will give us a preview of the interior design early next year.

This is a developing story and will be updated…
