He Crashed A Speeding McLaren Into A House And Somehow Everyone Lived

  • McLaren 570GT crashed into a home at 91mph in a 30mph zone.
  • Crash ignited both the supercar and the house, but no one died.
  • Passenger was thrown 82 feet yet survived with serious injuries.

It’s not often that a crash looks this catastrophic and still ends without loss of life. Police in Lancashire, UK, have described it as nothing short of a miracle that the wreck shown here didn’t claim a single victim.

var adpushup = window.adpushup = window.adpushup || {que:[]};
adpushup.que.push(function() {
if (adpushup.config.platform !== “DESKTOP”){
adpushup.triggerAd(“0f7e3106-c4d6-4db4-8135-c508879a76f8”);
} else {
adpushup.triggerAd(“82503191-e1d1-435a-874f-9c78a2a54a2f”);
}
});

The mangled shell once belonged to a McLaren 570GT, before the 28-year-old behind the wheel tripled the speed limit, lost control, and slammed into a house.

His passenger flew 25 meters (82 feet) from the supercar but escaped with their life. The car clearly won’t be making a comeback.

Authorities say that the driver, Zachary Hocking, was averaging 91 mph (146 km/h) in a 30 mph (48 km/h) zone along Heyhouses Lane in Lytham St. Annes in December 2023. He then lost control of the V8-powered supercar and ploughed into a home.

The impact was violent enough that the McLaren burst into flames. Both Hocking and his male passenger suffered serious injuries, but both lived. Nobody in the home was hurt either.

The car fire quickly ignited the front of the property. Photos from the scene show scorched brickwork climbing the exterior and the McLaren reduced to an unrecognizable, blackened frame of twisted metal.

Recklessness and Consequences

Inspector Greg Laidlow of the Lancashire Police called Hocking’s behavior “extremely reckless and selfish,” adding that the case demanded deep forensic collision analysis to support the resulting conviction.

Speaking of that conviction, Hocking, a resident of Grand Manor Drive in Lytham, is headed to jail for 28 months. He’s also banned from driving for 74 months. That’s a little over six years.

Whenever he decides to apply for a license after that, he’ll be subject to a more extensive testing procedure. That’s quite the penalty when compared to similar cases from the USA.

When Gemballa Mirage GT owner Benjamin Chen allegedly went on a crashing spree in his car in New York, prosecutors dismissed the case, saying that “the case cannot be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.”

var adpushup = window.adpushup = window.adpushup || {que:[]};
adpushup.que.push(function() {
if (adpushup.config.platform !== “DESKTOP”){
adpushup.triggerAd(“b25ecba7-3bbb-4ea7-a3a8-dbea91695c07”);
} else {
adpushup.triggerAd(“e46c436a-adeb-4b5e-a2c7-56bc36561c10”);
}
});

Perhaps all of the video evidence of the incident just wasn’t substantial enough. At least in this case from the UK, one driver who ran out of skill is off the road for at least the next two years, if not six, provided they follow the rules from now on.
