Toyota’s small SUV lineup has grown into a tale of two Yaris Cross models, each tuned for a different corner of the globe. Both slot into the subcompact SUV segment, though the larger Southeast Asian version now takes a moodier turn with the arrival of a new Nightshade edition in Thailand.

The Yaris Cross for Southeast Asian markets first appeared in Indonesia in 2023. With its sharp LED headlights, wide grille, and deep bumper intakes, it carries the stance of a scaled-down Highlander before its facelift.
What’s New?
This latest Nightshade edition adds a distinctive “Metro Stylish” grille that places body-colored trim behind the Toyota badge, with a reworked pattern below. The update refines the crossover’s appearance, giving it a refreshed look that could easily be mistaken for a mild refresh.
Other exterior tweaks include black 18-inch alloy wheels and matching dark details scattered across the body. The glossy black finish covers the lower cladding, intake garnish, skid plates, window surrounds, mirrors, spoiler, and tailgate, creating a uniform shadowed look.
The paint options are kept simple: Cement Gray Metallic or Platinum White Pearl, both paired with a contrasting black roof.

Inside, the dark-themed cabin features seats upholstered in synthetic leather, while the door panels, steering wheel, center console, and gear knob are trimmed in genuine leather.
The Nightshade is based on the high-spec trim of the Yaris Cross and comes packed with features. Standard equipment includes a fixed panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, a 10.1-inch infotainment display, an electric tailgate, and the Toyota Safety Sense ADAS suite.

Unlike the global version that uses Toyota’s TNGA-B platform, the Southeast Asian Yaris Cross sits on the Daihatsu-developed DNGA architecture. It also gains 130 mm (5.1 inches) in length over the European model, measuring 4,310 mm (169.7 inches) from nose to tail.
Thai buyers get a single self-charging hybrid option, producing a combined 110 hp (82 kW / 112 PS) from a 1.5-liter Dual VVT-i petrol engine paired with an electric motor.
Power is sent exclusively to the front wheels through an E-CVT automatic transmission. The setup is shared across the range, and the Nightshade doesn’t introduce any powertrain or suspension upgrades.
Pricing in Thailand starts at 919,000 baht (about $28,800), placing it at the top of the Yaris Cross lineup. The standard models sit between 789,000 and 899,000 baht ($24,700–28,100), leaving the Nightshade as the most premium, and visually distinctive, choice in the family.
